Frequently Asked Questions

Microdermabrasion is a skin resurfacing method that can be performed as a lunch-hour procedure for deep cleansing and rejuvenating skin. Microdermabrasion can be used to treat fine lines and wrinkle, acne scars, blackheads and whiteheads, acne scars, congested skin, enlarged pores and blemishes, dull skin, uneven skin tone, oily skin, dry or patchy skin, minor skin discoloration and minor stretch marks. During your consultation, the skin care specialist will outline all of the options available to help you achieve the results you are looking for, evaluate your skin type and discuss your skin care needs, discuss possible risks and complications, take before photos for your medical record and possibly even perform your first treatment. A sample treatment may also be performed on your hand to verify the painlessness and effectiveness of microdermabrasion.

What is microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a noninvasive, painless procedure that is used to maintain healthy looking skin, reduce fine lines and produce smooth, even skin texture and color. Clinical microdermabrasion treatments can help diminish many skin imperfections and restore the glow and natural vitality of youthful skin. Microdermabrasion uses a fine steam of crystals to gently and painlessly exfoliate the skin for a healthier, softer looking appearance.

In addition to surface exfoliation, microdermabrasion promotes the production of new cells in the basal layer (deepest layer of the dermis), cleanses the pores and stimulates the blood flow and collagen to further improve skin texture. Microdermabrasion can be successfully used on light or dark skinned patients to treat the face, neck, chest, arms, elbows, knees, hands and back.

How is microdermabrasion performed?
After cleansing your treatment area, the skin care specialist will use microcrystals to gently exfoliate your skin. The skin care specialist will adjust the pressure for your skin type and move the microdermabrasion hand piece across the treatment area to deliver precise abrasion onto the skin’s surface. The scale-like, lifeless epidermal cells and crystals are then suctioned back into the same hand piece to reveal a fresh, invigorated skin surface. After your treatment, the skin care technician may choose to apply a light skin polishing agent or facial mask to optimize your results.

How much does microdermabrasion cost?
A package of five microdermabrasion treatments is $275*.

Individual microdermabrasion treatments are $60* for each treatment. Your skin care specialist will work with you to find the best treatment program to fit your goals and your budget. We have something for every budget.

Is there a consultation fee?
Yes, there is a $50 consultation fee to see our skin care specialist. If you have your first treatment during your consultation, this fee will be waived.

Who is the best candidate for microdermabrasion?
Anyone who desires an improved appearance of their skin and reduction in fine lines and wrinkles, scarring, and/or uneven skin tone.

Are the treatments better than the microdermabrasion treatments that I can buy over the counter?
The treatments and services we offer our patients are stronger and more effective than any over-the-counter treatments you can purchase. The treatments are all part of a strict medical program designed to help you achieve the best results possible in as little time as possible. We are helping you correct a specific condition with your skin, not conceal it.

Does microdermabrasion hurt?
Because microdermabrasion is so precise, the procedure is virtually pain free. Your skin may feel a little hot and appear a little pink immediately after your treatment. Patients typically experience some redness for about one hour after the procedure.

How long does the procedure take?
Microdermabrasion is a quick procedure that normally only takes 30 minutes. It is recommended that patients have a regimen of five microdermabrasion treatments spaced 7-10 days apart for the best results.

Is there any down time?
Other than avoiding the sun the day of the procedure, you can return to normal activities immediately following your microdermabrasion treatment. We recommend maintaining a thorough skin care regimen in order to keep your skin looking fresh and healthy.

Do the microdermabrasion treatments need to be paid for up front or do you offer a payment plan?
Yes, the treatments have to be paid for at the first visit.

Will my insurance cover my microdermabrasion?
No we do not accept insurance for microdermabrasion or any cosmetic procedures.

Our office offers treatment programs for virtually every skin type of patient and every budget. During your consultation, the skin care specialist will outline all of your options and help you choose which program is best for you.
