Laser Hair Reduction

        Frequently Asked Questions

Laser hair reduction helps eliminate the need for shaving, waxing, plucking, and bleaching unsightly body hair on areas such as the face, underarms, bikini area, back, or legs.

During the consult, your laser technician will explain the procedure as well as possible risks and complications.
*We recommend you bring a list of any questions or concerns to your consult.

How does laser hair reduction work?
Laser hair reduction uses a low-energy laser to gently remove unwanted hair. The laser energy passes through the skin and is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle. In a fraction of a second, the energy is transformed into heat and the hair follicle is destroyed. Quick and convenient, full face, bikini line, and underarm treatments may take as little as 15-30 minutes. Several treatments are required to destroy hair follicles in different growth cycles, usually a minimum of 6-10 treatments. Since the laser targets the pigment of the hair follicle, laser hair removal is most effective on light-skinned patients with dark hair.

Since no procedure can guarantee permanent hair removal, most patients can expect a major reduction in hair growth, leaving remaining hair thinner, lighter in color, and much slower growth.

How much does laser hair reduction cost?
The cost varies depending on the area being treated. We offer patients a package of 6 treatments that ranges anywhere from $200 to $1,000 for a package. Fees for additional treatments after the package, will be discussed at your consult. We do offer multiple package purchase discounts.

Is there a consultation fee?
Yes, there is a $50 consultation fee. If you have your laser done during your consultation, this fee will be waived.

Who is the best candidate for laser hair reduction?
Patients with fair skin and dark hair typically see the best results. All skin types and color can have laser treatments but the results may take longer to achieve. However, we do not treat gray, white, red or blonde hair.

Is there any down time with laser hair reduction?
No, you can resume your normal activities immediately following treatment. However, you must avoid sun exposure between treatments or use sun screen when in the sun. Other individual restrictions and expectations will be discussed during your consultation.

How many treatments will I require?
Most people require approximately 6-10 treatments to see the most effective results. Treatments are done approximately 4-6 weeks apart depending on the area being treated.

Does laser hair reduction hurt?
There is minimal pain associated with the treatments. Most patients say it feels like the snapping of a rubber band. We do have local anesthetics to help ease the discomfort.

Is laser hair reduction guaranteed to be permanent?
The hair follicles that are treated and eventually destroyed are permanently gone. However, many factors in our lives can cause hormones to develop new hair follicles. Pregnancy and menopause are just two of these factors.

Will my insurance cover laser hair reduction?
No, we do not accept insurance for laser hair reduction or any cosmetic services.
