Chemical Peels

Frequently Asked Questions

A chemical peel can help you look younger by reducing fine lines, age spots, sun damage, hyperpigmenting, acne scars, enlarged pores and blemishes. A chemical peel is a safe and effective accelerated form of exfoliation that smoothes the skin’s surface by chemically removing the outer layers, which facilitates the formation of new skin cells. During your consultation, the skin care specialist will outline all of the options available to help you achieve the results you are looking for, possible risks and complications, take before photos for your medical record and possibly even perform your first treatment(s). We recommend you bring a list of any questions or concerns to your consultation.

Chemical peels treat:
Acne, blackheads and whiteheads
Acne scars
Hyperpigmentation, discoloration, age spots
Sun damage
Fine lines and wrinkles
Enlarged pores

Chemical peels rejuvenate the skin, eliminate blotchy patches and improve wrinkles through chemical exfoliation.
You can choose from three different types of peels, depending on the amount of skin damage and results desired.

How is a chemical peel performed?

Your skin is cleansed and a toner is applied. A degreaser is then applied to allow the chemical to better penetrate the skin. For even better results, dermaplaning can be performed prior to proceeding with the chemical peel. The chemical is then applied and left on the skin for approximately 1-5 minutes. Your skin is again cleansed followed by application of a moisturizer and sunscreen. The treatment takes about 30 minutes for light and medium depth.

How much do the treatments usually cost?

A package of 5 peels is $325* for medium peels. The peels individually are $80*. Our deepest peel, the Obagi Blue Peel, is $320* for the entire face and neck or $250* for the eye or lip area only.

Is there a consultation fee?

Yes, there is a $50 consultation fee. If you have your treatment done during your consultation, this fee will be waived.

Who is the best candidate for treatment of skin discoloration?

Men, women and teenagers who are tired of acne, fine lines and wrinkles, skin discoloration, brown spots, sun damage, uneven skin tone or simply want to keep their skin healthy and young. Our treatments are safe for all skin types and ethnicities.

Is there any down time or restrictions?Except for the deepest peel, the only restriction after your peel is that you must wear sunscreen anytime you are outside for the 5 days following the peel. You may or may not peel for 3-5 days after the peel. If you do peel, it will resemble the way you peel after a sunburn. You may use make-up and moisturizer as you normally do. With our deepest peel, there is 1-2 weeks of strict restrictions and recovery time. Your skin care specialist will go over the exact restrictions and expected recovery period during your consultation.

How are the treatments here better than at a salon or other facility?

The treatments and services we offer can only be performed in a doctor’s office. Our treatments are stronger and more effective than any treatment performed outside of a medical office. The treatments are all part of a strict medical program designed to help you achieve the best results possible in as little time as possible. We are helping you correct a specific condition with your skin, not conceal it.

Does the treatments hurt?

Most patients experience a mild burning sensation that goes away a few minutes after application of the chemical. However, our deepest peel is stronger and the discomfort is significantly more than with our other peels. The discomfort starts to diminish after about 15-20 minutes.

How soon will I see results?

Most patients can see a dramatic improvement in the skin within a week after their first peel or at about 3 weeks after the deepest peel.

Our office offers treatment programs for virtually every type of patient and every budget. During your consultation, the skin care specialist will outline all of your options and let you choose which program is best for you. We proudly offer our patients Young Medical Products, Obagi Medical, Dermesse Medical Products, GloProfessional, La Roche-Posay and Revision skin care products.
