Botox & Juvederm Injections

Frequently Asked Questions

Botox and Juvèderm are commonly used to help reduce the appearance of facial lines and wrinkles and to help “plump” up thin lips and scars. The injections are done in the office with a topical anesthetic, if the patient desires. During the consultation, your physician will explain the injections as well as possible risks and complications and take before photos for your medical record. We recommend you bring a list of any questions or concerns to your consultation.

Botox is injected directly into a specific muscle, so that only the action of that muscle will be paralyzed. Therefore, the problem that muscle causes will be stopped, leaving your skin smooth and relaxed. After the treatment, the overlying skin remains smooth and unwrinkled while the untreated facial muscles contract in a normal fashion. Some of the most common areas treated include crow’s feet, frown lines, laugh lines, and forehead wrinkles.

Juvèderm is injected just below the surface of the skin, filling in unwanted lines and wrinkles and adding definition to the lip border or scars.

How much do Botox & Juvèderm injections cost?
Botox injections are $12* per unit and most people usually require 25-50 units depending on the area(s) being treated. Juvèderm is $600* per cc, which is a syringe.

Is there a consultation fee?
No, there is not.  During your visit, Dr. Tobin can advise which injection would help you achieve the look you desire.

Who are the best candidates for Botox & Juvèderm injections?
Women and men who are unhappy with facial lines, thin lips or scarring.

How long do the injections last?
Botox injections typically last about 3-4 months. Juvèderm injections typically last about 6-9 months.

How soon will I see results?
Results are typically evident within a few days after the injections.

Are there any side effects?
There may be some slight discomfort from the needle, slight bruising and some swelling. Although side effects are uncommon, other possible risks and complications will be discussed during your consultation.

Do the injections have to be paid for up front?
Yes, all cosmetic procedures must be paid for in full at the time of service.

Will my insurance cover Botox or Juvèderm?
